AJ Car Recovery provides a mobile jump start service across Birmingham and the West Midlands. If your car won't start because of a flat battery, whether at home, at work, in a car park or at the roadside, call the operator and we'll come out to you.
A jump start is often the quickest fix. Because we're a recovery service, if the car won't fire or the battery isn't the real problem, we can recover it to a garage or home on the same call instead of you starting again with someone else.

Signs your car needs a jump start
A flat battery usually shows itself the same way: you turn the key or press start and get a click, a slow turn, dashboard lights that flicker, or nothing at all. It's common after a car has been parked for a while, in cold weather, or after the lights were left on.
If the engine turns over normally but won't fire, the battery probably isn't the problem. Tell us, because recovery may be the better option. If you're stuck somewhere unsafe, say so first.

Jump start, or recover
We jump start the car where it's safe to do so. If it won't start or shouldn't be driven, we can recover it to your garage or home instead.

We jump start cars and vans, including automatics. Some hybrids and electric vehicles have their own jump-starting rules in the handbook, so tell us the make and model when you call and we'll confirm what we can do.
If the car is in a garage, a tight space or an underground car park, tell us where so we can reach the battery.
AFTER THE JUMP
Once it's running
Keep the engine running for a good drive so the battery can recharge. If the battery is old, or the car went flat for no obvious reason, get it tested. A jump start gets you moving, but it doesn't fix a failing battery or a charging fault.

You don't need to be a member of anything or sign up in advance. You call when you need us, speak to the operator and get a clear plan for the job.
If the jump start works, that's the job done. If it doesn't, we can recover the car on the same call instead of you starting again with someone else.

Can you jump start my car at home?
Yes. We come to your home, workplace or wherever the car is parked. Tell us whether it's on a driveway, in a garage or on the street.
Will you try a jump start before towing?
Yes. Where a flat battery is the likely cause, we try a jump start first and only suggest recovery if the car won't start or shouldn't be driven.
What if the car still won't start?
Then the battery may not be the only problem. We can recover the car to a garage or your home on the same call.
Can you jump start a hybrid or electric car?
Tell us the make and model. Many hybrids and EVs have a 12-volt battery that can go flat, and the handbook sets out how it should be jump started. We'll confirm on the phone what we can do.
Will my car be fine after a jump start?
Often, yes. Drive it for a good while so the battery recharges, and get the battery and charging system checked if it goes flat again.
